The Vitamin C face cream that really delivers a Dose of Dreams

Well-formulated brightening creams often deliver at least some benefits. Very few, however, deliver instant results as well as ‘over time’ efficacy. That’s not the case with a Vitamin C face cream I recently discovered - it delivers ‘all of the above’ and more. If you want to fade dark spots, minimise pores and give your skin an instant boost, this could be just the skincare product you’ve been looking for.
I’m not talking about a high-end or spa brand product. This Vitamin C face cream comes from a makeup brand - and it’s available in three different fragrances. Yes, you read that right, fragrances. So, what is it that I’m currently raving about?
Dose of Dreams by none other than PLouise!

Launched as part of the Breakfast Club collection, this product is available to buy either on its own or as part of a morning skincare bundle. Even before you apply the product to your skin, you will notice what sets it apart from alternative brightening creams. Sold in a heavyweight glass jar, it comprises neat swirls of uniform balls of a gel-to-cream serum, not unlike some camouflaging primers. PLouise describes it as a ‘bubble to skin’ product.
What’s in the Vitamin C face cream?
This Vitamin C face cream contains all the usual suspects and some, when it comes to ingredients. As well as boasting high-strength, stabilised Vitamin C and three per cent niacinamide, both revered for their brightening prowess, other properties include Vitamin B12, rice protein and smart pigments. What does this all mean? As well as delivering that craved for skin brightness, this product boosts radiance and cell turnover while also giving the skin protection from environmental damage and an instant more even tone.
It’s the first Vitamin C skincare product I’ve used that goes this far beyond skin brightening. It’s perfect for those with mature or dull skin as well as those who want to even out the lingering effects of breakouts or acne. It’s also ideal for anyone who suffers from dark spots or hyperpigmentation.
Dose of Dreams is only available from PLouise and is priced £18 for a 50g jar. It can be purchased in a £40, six-product skincare bundle that also includes a rather good eye cream as well as cleansing and moisturising products. A new Candy Bear bundle, which retails at £107, also contains the cream.

PLouise Dose of Dreams Vitamin C face cream review
I first purchased Dose of Dreams in the six-product bundle. It turned out to be the shining star of the set. My Vitamin C face cream was in the Fruity and Loopy fragrance, but it is also available in French Toast and Cereal Milk. Yeah, I know, weird scents… I have to say, the one I chose is a real treat on the senses; calming but uplifting at the same time. It's lovely.
My initial impression was that the bubble presentation was little more than a gimmick. But… Trust me, there’s a lot of satisfaction in dipping your finger into the pot and seeing those balls turn into a rich but light serum-cream. I would describe the texture as a gel-cream hybrid. It’s silky smooth and yet luxurious while not feeling heavy on the skin. I initially fell in love with the product because of how it felt when I applied it. I then realised it was deeply moisturising. About a week later, I noticed how clear and even my complexion was.
Now, of course, I can see the instant effects as well as the ‘over time’ ones. My skin looks radiant after every application. If you are hankering after the glass skin aesthetic this would be a great product to incorporate into your routine.
Are there any drawbacks? The biggest negative is that, with regular use, Dose of Dreams isn’t going to last you very long. Maybe three to four weeks. I’m about to open my second jar in less than a month. However, I don’t begrudge that - given the product delivers on all the brand’s promises and is a joy to use. However, if you are on a tight budget, it may be something you want to consider before falling in love with the cream like I have.

How I use Dose of Dreams
I use this product under makeup in the mornings and as part of an evening skincare routine. I apply it after cleansing and toning my face. I should point out, I have mature skin. It may be primarily a makeup brand but PLouise’s skincare products are among the few that I truly do use to the bottom of the jar. The brand’s Obsessed For Less bundle is so good, I have to keep in back-up supplies. I honestly never want to run out. Dose of Dreams has been added to my ‘must-have’ list - and for very good reasons.
If you want ultra-clear skin, a poreless finish and skin that glows from within, Dose of Dreams is a good bet.
